Production of electronic boards

ELVAS proposes itself to its customers as a partner capable of supporting them in every phase of the electronic product manufacturing process. Starting from design, passing through the realisation of the printed circuit board and the necessary production equipment, and finally producing and testing the finished product in both lead-tinPbSn and lead-free technology.

Materials and warehouse management

Efficient and timely supply chain management is ensured by a professional approach to purchasing and it is based on: the identification of alternative sources and products, a commitment to maintaining adequate stock levels, flexibility and optimisation of response times, the definition of framework agreements and direct collaboration with suppliers both in Italy and worldwide.

Elvas is also equipped with computerised management tools that guarantee continuous management and monitoring of the supplier-customer MRP data flow.

When operating in the service industry, it is essential to understand how important it is to correctly identify goods as soon as they arrive, in order to prevent entire productions from being compromised due to a trivial identification error. The goods shall be first verified through the incoming quality inspection to check that all codes on the materials conform to what was declared and ordered. If everything is confirmed, a label will be printed with the identification data, the barcode with the product code, and the single location within Elvas warehouse.

Component coding can be tied to the individual approved manufacturer, or to its second-source, if any, or to its own technical specifications. Whereas the possible management of customer-owned material can be managed on specific logical and physical warehouses and integrated into the management of a single bill of materials with mixed supply components.

The single location allows for fast and secure management of components in the warehouse, both in the storage phase, thanks also to its reporting on the component label, and in the picking of the production order.

Engineering and design

The expertise we have acquired in assembly, soldering and remelting process technologies and testing, as well as the international IPC process certification in the field of electronic board production, nowadays places us before the customer as a 360° partner able to provide technical support for design, both in terms of DFM ‘Design for Manufacturing’ and DFT ‘Design for Testing’, both aimed at industrialising the product, reducing production costs and maximising product reliability in the field.

With regard to customers who require full support, Elvas is able to develop the project based on the customer’s demands: both hardware and software. Completing everything with the eventual realisation of the functional test equipment, or the ICT test programme with mobile probes.

SMT Department

The SMT department, thanks to continuous investments, is composed of technologically advanced and state-of-the-art machinery that allows the production of boards for various fields: from medical to industrial automation; offering a high level of quality and reliability of assemblies.

Assembly and soldering of SMT components is carried out using all kinds of techniques; glue point, single and double reflow, and currently our production lines can mount both ultrafine pitch and BGA and uBGA components, whereas the assembly capacity is over 450,000 components per day. The boards are 100% inspected at the automated visual inspection (AOI) before being processed in the following departments.

PTH Department

The long-established PTH department at Elvas is able to sustain a high daily production rate while ensuring excellent flexibility.

Thanks to the two production lines, we are able to process RoHS or PbSn technology at the same time, without running the risk of contamination or handling errors.

Our milestone is our flexibility besides quick reaction timing, which allows us to optimally meet our customers’ needs.

Testing department

The department is structured to be able to offer both parametric and functional testing, and is able to produce equipment and software according to customer specifications.

The fleet testintg machine consists of a Spea flying probe for ICT testing, and numerous jigs for functional testing customised to the customer needs.

Washing and Conformal Coating Departments

The automated washing department as well as the conformal coating department complete the production cycle of the boards by means of an automatic coating dispensing machine, both if required by customer specifications.

Mechanical assembly

Elvas also provides its customers with the possibility of mechanical assembly of the product and its eventual final functional testing, in order to guarantee the supply of a turnkey product.
